6 Wedding Trends I'm Predicting for 2023
Wedding trends are always changing, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to keep up with them! Over the years, we’ve gone from guest booklets to selfie-sticks and everything in between, and I can already tell you that the trends I’m predicting in 2023 will be far different than the ones we see today. That’s why it’s important to stay on top of the latest wedding trends – who knows? You may get inspired to update your own big day!
1) Intimate Weddings
Intimate weddings are becoming more and more popular. Couples are choosing to get married in front of a few close friends and family, or even just their spouse! There is no need to overcomplicate things- you only have one shot at your perfect day!
The trend of more selective guest lists will continue as newlyweds focus on creating a curated wedding experience with the people they love most and shun the pressure to invite anonymous +1s. Sorry, cousin Harry, but you just don't make the cut anymore.
2) Unique Venues and Outdoor Weddings
One trend that I foresee being popular over the next few years is unique venues and outdoor weddings. With so many options to choose from, more couples are choosing to have their wedding at a location that provides a complete experience rather than just one day.
Weddings outdoors were prohibited in England and Wales prior to the pandemic unless your venue had a licensed structure, such as a pavilion. During the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous couples chose outdoor weddings for safety reasons, so temporary permission was granted for licensed venues to host ceremonies outside despite whether they had any structures.
Since this was so popular, it now allows you to marry anywhere outdoors, provided that your venue has a marriage license!
From outdoor weddings to destination weddings , these events can offer amazing memories and experiences that your guests will never forget. Whether you decide to go with an exotic vacation or plan an intimate gathering at home with family and friends, be sure to do your research and get input from people who’ve done it before.
3) Creative Catering
The most innovative trend in weddings is the rise of creative catering. Catering halls are giving way to chefs and caterers who produce unique dishes that are as much a work of art as they are a delicious meal. The focus on creativity, rather than convenience, has ushered in an era where guests can get the experience of eating at a four-star restaurant without having to leave the event.
4) Taking it back to the 80s
With Kate Bush on top of the charts and Top Gun in theaters, the 80s are roaring back. More puff-sleeve dresses, layers of organza and dramatic details are expected.
5) Interactive Entertainment
Choosing the right entertainment for your wedding reception is essential. The days of hiring a band or DJ are long gone. The entertainment options for couples are now more interactive and unique.
People are edxperiencing different entertainment, like fire dancers, aerialists, magicians and mind readers. 6) Sustainable Weddings
Green weddings are on the rise and in the future, there will be an even greater emphasis on sustainable weddings. Weddings will become more eco-friendly with the use of recycled materials and organic food. Couples will also make it a point to give back by donating to charities after their big day.
Couples are using their wedding day as an opportunity to reduce their impact, whether it's sourcing their food locally or choosing sustainable wedding favours.
