As a top wedding mind reader and magician who specialises in wedding day entertainment I am very lucky to work alongside some of the best wedding suppliers across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and beyond.

To help you get the most from your wedding plans I have teamed up with some incredible wedding suppliers and asked them to reveal their very best wedding tips just for you!

Loubear Events - Wedding Planning and Event Decor

Lou Kitt - Loubear Events - Wedding Planning and Events Decor

Lou runs Loubear Events in Downham Market, Norfolk. I am proud to say I changed Lou’s perspective on magicians - for the good! I even revealed her first kiss in my public show. Its always pleasure to work alongside her and she is surrounded by a fantastic team.

Loubear Events started off as two friends in business (Loubear & Tops). On the 1st December 2019 due to such high demand they separated the business into two. Loubear Events now handling all the wedding setups, decor hire and corporate events and Tops Designs now focusing on all the wedding, special event and corporate stationery.

Lou’s top wedding planning tip is a great one and its about compromising but in the right area, remember its YOUR day:

“Make a list of what is most important about your day, the things you don’t want to compromise on, for me it was the venue, food choice and DJ. For my husband it was photographer, DJ and venue. So everything else we compromised to ensure we had what was important to us. The second bit is, remember it is your day and no one else’s. Make your choices for you!”

I couldn’t agree more this was exactly what me and my wife did when we got married if I remember rightly her list was much longer than mine!

Al is not only a fantastic wedding and event photographer based in Lincolnshire but he is also great company at wedding fairs as I have had the pleasure to exhibit next to him on many occasions and have been lucky enough to pick up tips and ideas for my own personal photography.

If you havnt’t already booked your photographer take note as Al provides more than just his top tip but a guide and practical advice when your looking for the right photographer for you and your wedding day.

“In my humble opinion, having a record of the wedding day is essential, and not something to be left until the last minute.  Afterall, once the day is done, the dress is in the wardrobe, the food has been eaten, the flowers withered and the venue preparing for their next event, the one thing that remains (other than the new partnership of course!) is the set of photographs recording the day.

The good news for the couple is that they are not short of choice – it is definitely a crowded market!

But here are 3 things to consider when choosing a photographer that may help:

Do you like their portfolio?  Don’t just go by what’s on the website – they’re obviously going to showcase their best work (I know I do!)  Ask to see full albums or galleries to get a good feeling of their style, and if you can see yourself in similar images.

Do you like them?  Meet with your potential photographer for a coffee and a chat – you need to be comfortable with them as they are the supplier you’ll be spending the most time with; if you don’t like them or aren’t comfortable with them, it will genuinely effect your day.

Do you like their price?  Each photographer sets their price by what they feel comfortable charging in their market.  You can find newbies who will charge less than £100, and those who ask for £5000.  Hopefully the quality of their work will dictate where on the scale they’ll be – but you need to weigh up the importance of a professional set of images with the cost.  Whilst you may have some flex in your budget, a £5000 photographer isn’t going to photograph your day for £500, so set your sights accordingly!

Other things to check and ask your prospective photographer are:  what backup equipment do they have (I always have 2 cameras with me in case of equipment failure), what insurance do they hold (I hold £5million in public liability), and how do they protect the images (I have a 3-stage backup policy to ensure nothing gets lost!)

Bens top wedding planning tip is practical and will keep you on top of everything so you know exactly where you are for piece of mind and will financially keep you on the straight and narrow. Ben also highlights the most important tip… don’t worry everything will be amazing.

“My top tip is write everything down, in a list or on a spreadsheet, when you find a supplier record the price and the payment dates and tick each item off when it's done and work their way through it.

But don't worry about the little stuff, Focus on the big stuff and the little stuff will just fall into place. And if anythings wrong on the big day it's likely that only the couple will know that it's not supposed be that colour or that size, the guests will just think it's supposed to be like that or they won't notice at all.”

Deborah shares a fantastic tip around making sure you have a great magician……….. well besides that great tip she also provides even more superb advise around planning your day!

“Ok so my biggest tip for people who are starting to plan is: Think about what is important to you as a couple first, then plan your wedding your way. If food is your thing prioritise a great menu or caterer to keep you and your guests happy, if entertainment and a super cool party is it - make sure you have a great band or Magician (i take bribes lol) to keep the party bangin!

Make sure you have an order of the day, I always say to my couples even if you have a really flexible timeline, it will help your guests to know when they can go to the bathroom, when they can grab a drink, when they are getting fed and most importantly when to dodge the photos! Make your day about you and make it personal.”

Lorna passes some great advice, especially for those quirky couples be creative let your day represent your unique personalities.

“The biggest tip I would say is just do it your way, put your own stamp on the day and don’t feel like you have to follow traditions. Every wedding is different and you have more freedom than ever to be as creative as you like.

Also to make sure you spend a bit of time alone, every couple I meet say how valuable this time is (even if it is ten minutes) go for a walk in the evening, or ask the photographer to do some long distance shots so you get a moment together on the day.”
